Excursions

Explore Calabria’s many nature trails

Nirvana offers plenty of activities outside the resort. Get ready for a wide range of guided hikes and excursions, allowing you to discover Calabria’s hidden treasures and to visit the most beautiful areas of the region, thanks to our resort’s convenient location between Crotone and Catanzaro.

We recommend a number of possible routes around the area, but we also suggest you let your curiosity guide you in exploring the many places that go beyond the usual itineraries.

Follow the surrounding nature trails on horseback

Thanks to the Sella D’Oro Riding Stable staff, just 5 km from Nirvana, you can enjoy a wonderful day of horseback riding nearby (also suitable for children up to 7 years of age) or go on an excursion if you already have some riding experience.

The riding stable, which is located near Botricello, offers various activities for Nirvana guests, including horseback riding at dawn, dusk or night, offering you a fantastic opportunity to admire the surrounding landscape from a different perspective. You can also go on a tour within the resort – perfect for taking pictures of those unforgettable moments with your family and children – or an educational trail on the farm.

The tour is especially designed for children to have the opportunity to see various animals close up and to learn about different farming activities, while learning to ride a horse with the help of an instructor.

Riding services can be booked directly at Nirvana. Transfer to and from the riding stable included is in the price.

Orme nel Parco, the first multi-sensory eco-park in Calabria

Calabria isn’t just about the sea. To prove it, we recommend a visit to Orme nel Parco in Tirivolo, located in the municipality of Zagarise (province of Catanzaro), at an altitude of 1620 meters.

The adventure park offers authentic eco-sensory activities (adventure trails in the woods to stimulate all 5 senses). Put yourself to the test with an aerial obstacle course among the trees (safety equipment provided), an exciting rock climbing adventure and much more.

Orme nel Parco is a great place for families with children, offering a wide range of safe activities for children and friendly staff ready to suggest the most suitable routes and fun activities based on age and preferences.

Boat Tour to le Castella

One of the excursions that we recommend to those who want to explore the most charming villages of the Ionian coast is a boat tour to Le Castella, in Isola di Capo Rizzuto, a popular filming location.

The charm of Le Castella lies in its Aragonese fortress, overlooking the sea with spectacular views of the Ionian Coast and the natural reserve of Capo Rizzuto.

The guided boat tour includes a short cruise, a swim in the clear waters of the Ionian Sea, a guided tour of the historic center, as well as the chance to go shopping along the center’s main street.

The Aragonese fortress is open to visitors on request at an additional cost.

The Valli Cupe canyon: one of its kind in Calabria

Perhaps not everyone knows that one of the largest canyons in Europe is in Calabria, precisely in Sersale. This fascinating site is located in the Valli Cupe area, in Presila Catanzarese, and can be easily reached from Nirvana Club Village.

The rivers, creeks, and streams that flow through the valleys turn into enormous breathtaking rapids, creating stunning waterfalls that add to the canyon’s scenic beauty.

Valli Cupe features a wide variety of plant species such as the Woodwardia radicans, whose traces date back to more than 350 million years ago. It is also home to a wide range of rare animals, such as the spectacled salamander, the kite, the Eurasian eagle-owl, the kestrel, the common raven and the Egyptian vulture.

Those who love wild and unspoiled places will be amazed by Valli Cupe, a place where the rocks seem to have been carefully carved to create a natural paradise for curious travelers.
